As Texas begins to move through its phases of reopening the State, BGCTX continues to assess how these changes will impact our operations. Our first priority is the safety of our youth, families, and staff. In response to the rise of the pandemic, on March 30, BGCTX opened Mission-Essential Day Camps at ten regional sites to provide child care solutions for the families on the frontlines of Central Texas’s response to COVID-19. During Mission Essential Day Camps, with the support of community partners BGCTX staff: Implemented social distancing strategies; Intensified cleaning and disinfection efforts; Modified drop-off and pick-up procedures; and Applied health screening protocols for facility access.
These prevention measures kept our youth and staff safe, allowed the Club to continue service to a new category of youth who need us most and to create a positive climate to educate youth about new social distancing norms.
On May 18th, 2020, Governor Abbot announced that youth centers like ours could reopen with strict guidelines. With this announcement, we are able to expand our services to ALL youth again. However, existing prevention measures associated with BGCTX’s Day Camp model will remain in place. BGCTX is pleased to offer Summer Day Camp Programs at 11 regional Clubhouses. As long as the Governor’s Strike Force to Open Texas guidelines for Day Youth Camps are in place, BGCTX will continue to implement the following safety protocols:
- Continual 6ft of separation amongst youth and staff during all daily activities.
- 8:1 youth to staff member ratios per classroom.
- Limited facility access to operations staff, youth members, and emergency personnel.
- Daily health screenings for all who enter a Clubhouse; to include temperature checks, COVID-19 symptom observation, and COVID-19 exposure and travel questionnaires.
- Requirements for all employees to wear cloth face coverings.
- Ongoing personal, equipment, surface, and facility sanitation activities.
While necessary to continue prevention of the spread of COVID-19, these protocols will drastically limit BGCTX’s capacity to serve youth in each Summer Day Camp Clubhouse. They will also exponentially increase the cost to provide youth development services. The Day Camp site listing below includes max capacity figures and current enrollment levels for each Clubhouse. Enrollment levels will be updated to this list weekly on Monday mornings to convey the accessibility of Summer Day Camp Services. Clubhouse Directors will maintain waitlists for families who submit completed enrollment applications and will extend access to waitlisted families based on availability on a first come first serve basis.
As long 8:1 youth to staff member ratios are in place, BGCTX will assess a $10 daily / $50 weekly activity fees for Day Camp Participation.
Families interested in day camp services must enroll eligible youth by completing the applications below and submitting them to Clubhouse Directors or digitally to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Upon receipt of a completed enrollment application, a Clubhouse Director will contact you to confirm enrollment availability or waitlist status.
