Character And Citizenship Programs

Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Texas provides a safe and nurturing environment for young people to learn, grow, and thrive. Our Character and Citizenship programs are designed to empower young individuals to become active contributors to society. Through a variety of initiatives, they learn the importance of leadership, decision-making, and community service.

Following are the Character and Citizenship programs offered and their benefits for different age groups:

  • Goals for Growth (Age 8-12): Goals for Growth is a program that places a strong emphasis on equipping Club members with the necessary skills to set and accomplish their goals. By participating in this program, young individuals are empowered to identify their unique strengths and experience a boost in their self-esteem through the acknowledgment of their progress and achievements. Members can establish goals in diverse areas, including active Club involvement, exploration of new knowledge, dedication to serving others, fostering school improvement, personal development, and career awareness.
  • Junior Staff (Age 13-18): The Junior Staff program is designed to cater to the aspirations of Club members who have a keen interest in pursuing a career in youth or human services. It offers opportunities for young individuals to actively engage in activities related to career development and community service. By participating in the program, participants acquire not only practical experience but also invaluable interpersonal skills. The program plays a significant role in shaping responsible and dedicated individuals who are well-prepared to make a positive and lasting impact within their communities.
  • Keystone Clubs (Age 14-18): Keystone Clubs cater to the needs of teenagers aged 14 to 18, providing them with a platform to develop their leadership skills across three crucial domains: Community service, academic success, and career preparation. Through their involvement in Keystone Clubs, teenagers acquire invaluable leadership abilities, gain a deeper understanding of the significance of teamwork, and cultivate a sense of responsibility toward creating a better society.
  • Million Members, Million Hours of Service (Age 6-18): The Million Members, Million Hours of Service program engages youth in their communities through fun and impactful service projects. Kids who actively participate in service projects tend to perform better in school and are more likely to graduate from high school. By involving Club youth in volunteer and service projects, they develop a sense of social responsibility and are likely to become successful citizens.
  • Torch Clubs (Age 11-13): Torch Clubs cater to younger adolescents. These clubs provide a platform for young people to develop and strengthen their 21st-century leadership skills, focusing on character building and integrity. Torch Club members focus on four key areas: social recreation, service, education, health, and fitness.
  • Youth of the Year (Age 6-18): Youth of the Year promotes leadership skills; it aims to instill communication skills, goal-setting, and teamwork. The comprehensive program encompasses Youth of the Month, Junior Youth of the Year, and Youth of the Year. By participating in Youth of the Year, young individuals gain valuable experiences, enhance their leadership abilities, and become exemplary role models within their communities.
The Character and Citizenship programs empower young individuals to develop essential life skills and leadership abilities. Club members actively contribute to their communities and impact the world around them in a positive way.
