Family Dollar and the Boys and Girls Club of Central Texas celebrated the grand re-opening of the Family Dollar store on Stan Schlueter Loop in Killeen Saturday morning.
The store’s renovation is officially complete and now includes Dollar Tree items and sections with items for one dollar only.
Dennis Barringer, the district manager of Family Dollar in the area, said he thinks the renovations have been amazing for Family Dollar and that the stores in the area that have already been renovated are doing really well.
“We’re kind of pumped,” Barringer said.
The Boys and Girls Clubs of America has a partnership with Family Dollar nationwide, and the local Boys and Girls Club is going to continue attending Family Dollar events.
Family Dollar is a strong supporter of the Boys and Girls Club and the Killeen store has a Coca-Cola rack in the front of the store, and the proceeds from items sold from that rack are donated to the Boys and Girls Club, Barringer said.
Family Dollar and the Boys and Girls Club had booths set up outside the store and had wheels for customers to spin to try and win free items.
Family Dollar was also cooking hot dogs and giving away free samples and drinks.
The Family Dollar store presented the Boys and Girls Club with a $5,000 check to assist with local programs.
The club brought some of their local kids out to the Family Dollar for Saturday’s event to create sidewalk art and dance.
